Girlfriend's Day (2017)
26.02.2017
"I hate optimistic people. They bum me ut with their upbeat attitude." Director: Michael Paul Stephenson Writers: Eric Hoffman, Bob Odenkirk and Philip Zlotorynski Cinematographer: Richard Wong Composer: Bobby Tahouri Cast: Bob Odenkirk, Amber Tamblyn, Stacy Keach, Alex Karpovsky, Kevin O'Grady, Rich Sommer, Larry Fessenden, Natasha Lyonne, Andy Richter, June Diane Raphael, Ed Begley Jr. and David Lynch Review: What is it with Netflix and it's original movies? They have a lot of great original shows, but so far i have only seen one great movie from tem, Beasts of No Nation. Everything else has been average at best. And this wasn't even that and that's a shame because i love Bob Odenkirk. He was the only reason i decided to watch this. He is hilarious in everything he pops up in and has shown some great dramatic chops lately in Better Call Saul so i hoped this was gonna keep that going. Now he was good here, it's just that the film around him was just so dull. It tries to be some kind of neo noir mystery flick about the greeting card business, and at times it works, but it's just too short to completely make it work. The movie is only 65 minutes long. Barely enough to be called a feature length movie. So with about 20 or 30 minutes more to develop it's story and characters it could have worked, but i honestly doubt it. I guess i should be happy it was as short as it was.

"The world is bigger than your silverware!" Director: Macon Blair Writer: Macon Blair Cinematographer: Larkin Seiple Composers: Brooke Blair and Will Blair Cast: Melanie Lynskey, Elijah Wood, Jane Levy, David Yow, Devon Graye, Myron Natwick, Gary Anthony Williams, Christine Woods, Robert Longstreet and Jason Manuel Olazabal Review: This was a movie i had heard nothing about before noticing on Netflix and deciding to give it a shot. I saw that Elijah Wood was in it and he has really been great lately. No mater the quality of the movie, he always stands out, and that is exactly what happened here as well. Honestly, this was just a mediocre movie at best, but Elijah Wood made it worth watching. He was hilarious. I really hope he sticks with doing weird supporting roles from now on. He is so much better at that than he was at being a leading man.

Signs
25.02.2017
"There's a monster outside my room, can I have a glass of water?" Director: M. Night Shyamalan Writer: M. Night Shyamalan Cinematographer: Tak Fujimoto Composer: James Newton Howard Cast: Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin, Abigail Breslin, Cherry Jones, M. Night Shyamalan and Patricia Kalember Review: A lot of people say that this was when M. Night Shyamalan started to lose his touch, but i still love this movie. Sure, it gets a bit preachy at times, but it's still a genuinely creepy and unsettling movie. It's also surprisingly funny at times. I didn't remember that, but i laughed a lot as well during the movie. And the score from James Newton Howard is fantastic. It's just perfect for this movie. Signs is not as good as The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable, but it's still great.

Tickled

"I mean, obviously it's just for fun. It's tickling." Directors: David Farrier and Dylan Reeve Writer: --- Cinematographer: Dominic Fryer Composers: Rodi Kirkcaldy and Florian Zwietnig Cast: David Farrier, Dylan Reeve, David Starr, Hal Karp and David D'Amato Review: This has to be one of the most unexpectingly creepy movies i have ever seen. I thought it was gonna be funny, but i just ended up feeling depressed after watching it. But that is not a bad thing because it was a very good movie. I was interested throughout and the more the uncovered the weirder everything got. I really don't want to say anything more because this is a movie best experienced not knowing anything before watching it. I just wish it lasted longer. I wanted to know more.

"I'm all over Twitter and all this here. I'm everywhere." Director: Colm Quinn Writer: --- Cinematographer: Colm Quinn Composer: Michael Fleming Cast: Paul Kelly and Michael Flynn Review: I don't watch a lot of documentaries, but sometimes i come across one on TV that i just can't switch away from. I really enjoyed this movie. The people in it were all fascinating in their own way. I could definitely see this being turned into a real movie at some point.

"The kids who get bit by radioactive insects or fall into a vat of toxic waste, their powers usually show up the next day. Or - they die." Director: Mike Mitchell Writers: Paul Hernandez, Robert Schooley and Mark McCorkle Cinematographer: Shelly Johnson Composer: Michael Giacchino Cast: Michael Angarano, Kurt Russell, Kelly Preston, Danielle Panabaker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lynda Carter, Bruce Campbell, Steven Strait, Cloris Leachman, Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald and Kevin Heffernan Review: I was just channel surfing today and noticed Kurt Russel and decided to watch the movie. I wasn't really expecting much, but it was surprisingly fun. It had a lot of great characters and cameos. Bruce Campbell always makes any movie he appears in better. The story however was a s predictable and clichรฉd as they get. The main character was also boring as a block of wood. But it still kept me entertained throughout.
