"We're being hunted. The cages. The soldier. All of us. All brought here for the same purpose. This planet is a game preserve. And we're the game." Director: Nimród Antal Writers: Alex Litvak and Michael Finch Cinematographer: Gyula Pados Composer: John Debney Cast: Adrien Brody, Alice Braga, Topher Grace, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershala Ali, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne Review: I remember loving this movie the first time i saw it, but each time i have re-watched it since i have liked it less and less. Same thing happened today. I really love the idea of this group of people being brought to an alien planet to be hunter by the predators, i just wish it had been executed better. And Adrien Brody was horribly miscast. He was just so incredibly boring. Especially compared to Schwarzenegger in the original. Well, let's hope the next Predator movie is gonna be better. It is gonna be written and directed by Shane Black after all.

"It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen." Director: Stanley Kubrick Writers: Stanley Kubrick and Anthony Burgess Cinematographer: John Alcott Composer: --- Cast: Malcolm McDowell, Warren Clarke, Clive Francis, Aubrey Morris, Patrick Magee, Michael Bates, Paul Farrell, James Marcus, Steven Berkoff, Michael Tarn and David Prowse Review: I'm a bit ashamed to admit this as a film buff, but before this i had only previously watched two Stanley Kubrick movies. Dr. Strangelove and The Shining. But since i'm gonna try and watch as many classic movies i have yet to see this year i thought it was time to crack open my Stanley Kubrick blu-ray box set and start with the one i have always wanted to watch the most, A Clockwork Orange. While i have had a few scenes from the movie spoiled to me throughout the years, mostly through The Simpsons, i still mostly had no idea what the movie was about. And this was a real strange one. It could have me feeling sick from some of it's violent scenes one moment, and in the next have me laughing out loud with it's comedy. Malcolm McDowell was amazing in the lead and i was surprised to find out he did not get an Oscar nomination. I would guess maybe the movie was too strange or violent for the Academy, but no. The movie still got four nominations including Best Picture. He was definitely snubbed.

"Don't litter, man. You're gonna make me look bad in front of all my white neighbours." Director: John Michael McDonagh Writer: John Michael McDonagh Cinematographer: Bobby Bukowski Composer: Lorne Balfe Cast: Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Peña, Tessa Thompson, Theo James, Stephanie Sigman, Malcolm Barrett, Paul Reiser, Tait Fletcher and Caleb Landry Jones Review: After The Guard and Calvary, John Michael McDonagh has quickly become one of the directors i'm keeping an eye out for these days so this was definitely one of my most anticipated movies of 2016. But, sadly, this did not live up to his previous movies. Maybe it's because this is his first American movie and his his humor works better in Ireland, but i felt the tone was all over the place here. The cast were all mostly good though. Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña worked well together, but it was nothing spectacular. In fact, this whole movie was overall just kind of bland. I still remember and can quote The Guard and Calvary to this day, but i don't think this will stick with me for very long. Still, it had it's funny moments. I just hope McDonagh's next movie will be more like his first two.

"I'm gonna bag Masters, and I don't give a shit how I do it." Director: William Friedkin Writers: William Friedkin and Gerald Petievich Cinematographer: Robby Müller Composer: Wang Chung Cast: William Petersen, Willem Dafoe, John Pankow, Debra Feuer, John Turturro, Darlanne Fluegel, Dean Stockwell, Steve James, Robert Downey Sr., Michael Greene and Christopher Allport Review: This has to be one of the most 80's movies i have ever seen. Everything from the look of the movie and the style of the people to the music and even the font used in the opening credits just screams the 80's and i loved every second of it. I just got the Arrow special edition blu-ray of the movie because it has always been one of those movies i have really wanted to watch, but never gotten around to. It's not really a movie that get's a lot of attention these days either so it hasn't been easy to find before. But i'm happy i finally did because it's one of the best films i have seen in a long time. And damn, i did not see that ending coming.

"You're not gonna get rid of me. You're gonna pay for this for the rest of your life." Director: Tate Taylor Writers: Erin Cressida Wilson and Paula Hawkins Cinematographer: Charlotte Bruus Christensen Composer: Danny Elfman Cast: Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett, Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Edgar Ramírez, Allison Janney, Laura Prepon and Lisa Kudrow Review: Emily Blunt is one of my favorite actresses working today, so when i heard she got a Golden Globe nod for this, i decided to check it out. I hadn't really heard a lot of good things about this beforehand other that Blunt's great performance, and i see why now. The story itself is nothing noteworthy. I was actually surprised by the plot twists in this movie. Not because they were good, but because they were so obvious i didn't think anyone would actually go with that in 2016. But i still enjoyed the movie for what it was, and if you are a fan of Emily Blunt it's worth checking out for her performance at least. It's one of her best, even if the movie around it is mediocre.

"We know that you know, Mr. Caul. For your own sake, don't get involved any further. We'll be listening to you." Director: Francis Ford Coppola Writer: Francis Ford Coppola Cinematographers: Bill Butler and Haskell Wexler Composer: David Shire Cast: Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Harrison Ford, Allen Garfield, Frederic Forrest, Cindy Williams, Michael Higgins, Elizabeth MacRae, Teri Garr and Robert Duvall Review: This year i'm gonna be trying to catch up on a lot of classic movies i have yet to see. This is one of those. I really enjoyed it. Gene Hackman was amazing as usual. Francis Ford Coppola really was one of the best directors at the time. It's a shame he hasn't done anything noteworthy for a long, long time. I'd love to see him come back with something as great as this again. If Martin Scorsese is still able to pump out great movie after great movie, i'm sure Coppola has at least one more left in him.

"At age 11, I audited my parents. Believe me, there were some discrepancies, and I was grounded." Director: Adam McKay Writers: Adam McKay and Chris Henchy Cinematographer: Oliver Wood Composer: Jon Brion Cast: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, Rob Riggle, Damon Wayans Jr., Ray Stevenson, Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson Review: I think this is the third time i have watched this movie, but for some reason i didn't find it as hilarious as previous viewings. Maybe it's because i watched the extended cut this time. I did feel it dragged on a little at times and i could really understand why some of the new scenes weren't in the theatrical cut. But i still laugh until it hurts at most of it. This is one comedy i wouldn't mind getting a sequel to. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg work surprisingly well together.
